Branimir Slokar

Born in 1946 in Maribor, Slowenja. Bachelor and music studies at the Music Academy of Ljubljana. Concert diploma in 1969; soloist at the Radio orchestra of Ljubljana. Further studies in Paris at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique. First prize with distinction. Soloist in the Paris Conservatory orchestra and the Orchestre des Concerts Colonne. Prize-winner at the international competitions of Geneva and Munich (ARD, 1974). From 1971 - 1977 solo trombone of the Berne Symphony Orchestra (Switzerland). Professor at the Conservatory of this same town. 1977 solo trombone in the symphony orchestra of the Bavarian Radio under Rafael Kubelik. 1978 Professor at the Music Academy of Cologne (Germany). 1980 quits the orchestra to devote himself completely to teaching and to his soloist career. Since 1992 professor at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany), masterclasses in Europe, Japan, USA. Founder of the Slokar Trombone Quartet. Intense solo career, numerous recordings, jury member of international competitions.
