George Barcos (*1946)

Biography

George Barcos was born in Bogota, Colombia, in 1946. He received his basic education in Los Angeles, California, later studying guitar, composition and orchestration, both there and in Basel, Switzerland. In addition to formal musical training he also studied privately classical and jazz guitar, and composition. He lives in Geneva, Switzerland, where he has taught since 1977 guitar in the jazz department of the Conservatoire Populaire de Musique (CPM) as well as working as a freelance performer, composer and arranger. His music reflects the emotional landscape of the three cultures South America, America and Europe.
