Joan Machi I Castell (*1958)
Joan Vicent Machí i Castell was born in Alégemesí (Valencia, Spain) on November 8, 1958. After studying law at the University of Vasco, he devoted himself exclusively to music. He studied at conservatories in Valencia, Barcelona and San Sebastian, and played trumpet with the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra and with brass ensembles.
A scholarship from regional government of Vasco allowed him to attend master classes with Pierre Thibaud (France) and Armando Ghitalla (Italy) for trumpet and with M. Atzmon, F. Nagy, A. Ervin and Julius Kalmar for orchestral conducting. He has composed various works for brass, wind instruments and choirs.
