Philippe Mabboux (*1957)
Biography
Philippe Mabboux, a French composer with an unconventional musical journey, explored various genres, transitioning from a classical familial background to jazz, pop, electronic, and improvisational music during his adolescence. After musical studies at the conservatory and the University of Aix-en-Provence, he earned the CAPES in Music Education. As a teacher, he significantly contributed to refreshing the recorder repertoire through the widely distributed IMPULSIONS collection (1987-2000). In 1992, he established the Ensemble IMPULSIONS, performing extensively in France and abroad.
In addition to his pedagogical contributions for the piano and chamber music, Mabboux composed diverse works such as Au nom de la Liberté… (1989), Ilia… (1990), and Triptyque (2000). He represented France at the 2022 Worldvision Composers Contest with Evasions Océanes for orchestra and harp.
Philippe Mabboux has been an Agrégé professor since 2012 and was awarded the title of Chevalier in the Ordre des Palmes Académiques in 2017.
