Pierre Attaignant (1494-1551)
Pierre Attaignant (1494-1551), the inventor of a new process for printing music, published an enormous number of vocal an instrumental pieces by Janequin, Certon, Gervaise, Gombert, Susato, etc. His activities were on such a scale that François Ist appointed him "printer and seller of music for the King".
