Timothy Moore (1922-2003)
Biography
The son of the famous philosopher G.E. Moore, Timothy Moore was born in Cambridge, England, in 1922. He studied music and philosophy at Cambridge University and went on to the Royal College of Music, London as a composition scholar. He was Director of Music at Dartington Hall School for 32 years and has also worked as a jazz pianist. His major compositions include: "Variations on a theme by Faure" and "Suite in F" for orchestra; 3 concerti, including one for trumpet; 4 sonatas with piano, including ones for trumpet and horn; and other chamber music for from 2 to 9 players.
