About Balada
Balada was written (as Showdown at the Hoedown) for the brilliant Romm Family Trio - Ronald, Avis and Aaron Romm.
It was inspired by a trip that I took to Barcelona with my lady friend, to whom the work is dedicated.
In the piece, I imagine an afternoon stroll along La Rambla, admiring the old buildings, the vendors, the peaceful ambience. As we arrive at the Plaza Catalunya, there is a street flamenco dance performance going on. After enjoying the show, we move on and return to our tranquil sightseeing.
