About Alternances
This trio has two main parts. The first has the character of a rhapsody and makes virtuostic demands of the three musicians. Frequent cadenzas highlight this section. The second part, an Allegro scherzando, allows the instrumentalists to have a light and mischievous dialogue which ends in a slow movement with the return of the lyrical leitmotif that opened the work and which constantly reappears in one or the other of the instruments
